Essentialism, in architecture, is broadly used to describe the search for and belief in one notion or concept of architecture. Essentialism is also talked about as subsidiary notion in architecture, such as the ’essence of tectonics’. Post-structuralists support anti-essentialism, or the belief that there is a multitude of essences that co-exist and shift over time.
